KAKSLAUTTANEN ARCTIC RESORT

This unique resort successfully blends what a child dreams of when thinking about visiting Santa with more grown-up and even luxurious elements. Set in Finnish Lapland, 250km north of the Arctic Circle, it's the perfect spot for magical family holidays, both in winter and summer.
In the colder months, think snowmobile safaris, sleigh-rides and skiing. You can also head out on the water on an ice-breaker, take a dip in the frozen lake (staff will cut a space for you to swim) and relax in one of the smoke saunas for an authentic Finnish experience. And you can visit Santa, too, in his woodland lodge.
Between May and early August, the sun doesn't set, meaning you can fill your days (and nights) with activities including hiking, gold-panning and whitewater-kayaking. You can even enjoy a husky safari on wheels rather than skis, or 'borrow' a husky to join the family on a hiking experience.

The Northern Lights season runs from late-August through April each year and the Glass Igloos give you an unobstructed view of Finland’s sky and natural beauty. After dark is the greatest as not only more stars than you’re ever seen, but also the flowing colors of the northern lights shine above you. The dancing light show put on the aurora borealis in this arctic environment is second to none.
