A NIGHT SUSPENDED ON WATER

Find yourself 250m out on the lake in boutique accommodation, surrounded by nature at her most wild. Rooms appointed over three levels, relaxing lounge areas, an alluring help-yourself bar… all sitting out on a glacial lake.  Good luck describing this place to your friends!

The ground floor of the Pumphouse offers four comfortable rooms, each with its own unique character and connection to the lake.  With no steps to climb and the lounge and bar nearby, Pumphouse bliss is right at your fingertips.

The Pumphouse Top Floor rooms are two of the most spacious rooms with distinct architectural styling, designed for guests with a penchant for the top shelf.

These particular rooms have been designed with a split level layout, providing a sunken lounge and elevated bed level. Their elevation over Australia’s deepest lake makes these rooms the most highly sought after location.

Things to do

For those who wish to venture beyond the bar and lounges, there is a range of activities on offer around the Pumphouse Point property and throughout the national park.

Nature Walks

Lace up your boots and wander deep into the fjord-like surrounds of Lake St Clair to explore giant myrtle forests, tread softly on moss-covered understory and breathe in Tasmania’s World Heritage wilderness.

Lake St Clair is at the southern end of the world famous Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park and is surrounded by over 100km of impressive walks, ranging from leisurely strolls to overnight bush walks – including the internationally renowned Overland Track from Cradle Mountain to Lake St Clair.

Overland Track

Australia’s premier alpine trek, weaving 65km from Cradle Mountain to Lake St Clair.  Typically, the track is walked in 5-6 days, allowing for sidetracks including the walk to Tasmania’s highest peak, Mt Ossa. The journey exhibits glacial valleys, ancient rainforest & alpine meadows – some of the world’s most magnificent natural scenery.

Wildlife Discovery

Pumphouse Point is home to a community of furry hosts:  wallabies, echidnas, native quolls, possums, wombats, the famous Tassie devil and a wide variety of birdlife. And of course, forever hiding in the shallows is the Pumphouse platypus.
