About the Hotel

“A gem in paradise”

Unrivalled in terms of its idyllic situation, exclusivity and tranquility, The Sands at Nomad is the first Kenyan coastal resort to excel in the creation of the “Boutique” concept.

Unparalleled in terms of the discretion of its service, the excellence of its cuisine and the range of its leisure options, The Sands offers the ultimate Indian Ocean retreat.

Pool

In yet another break from tradition, The Sands at Nomad created a picturesque, cosy private pool atmosphere. Tiled with local “Galana” stone, incorporating a private gazebo, finished in sensuous curves and plunging to depths of 5 meters, contemporary design has blended perfectly with nature.

For your every comfort there is an ever present bar and snack menu to make sure that your relaxation is never disturbed.

Environment

The hotel is set amid 26 acres of indigenous coastal forest fronted by 225 meters of gentle lawns and waving palm trees, and enjoys uninterrupted access to one of Kenya’s most unspoilt stretches of silver sand and aquamarine sea.

Every effort has been made to keep the natural vegetation of the Resort intact. All gardens and imported plants are carefully integrated into the Resort’s original flora with an aim at increasing the indigenous wildlife.

Guest Services

Their guest relations desk can arrange exclusive marine safaris, visits to the nearby Shimba Hills National Park, cultural and botanical tours or visits to some of Kenya’s famous upcountry National Parks.

What better way to crown your holiday than with a flying safari to the renowned Maasai Mara to see the big five in their natural habitat.

And any request met with a cheery “Hakuna Matata”.

Structures

A unique fusion of hand-carved polished mahogany, soaring sail-work, classic Venetian ‘stucco’ and traditional Swahili architecture, The Sands at Nomad nestles in 26 acres of indigenous coastal forest, where silken-coated Colobus monkeys swing.

Centred upon a 5 meter-deep futuristic pool with central gazebo, the sinuously curved central reception area features an atmospheric lounge with a shaded al fresco Jacuzzi terrace, a Romanesque bar, an al fresco restaurant offering excellent a la carte dishes, a global connectivity centre.  Deep in the forest shade is a professional massage and nature treatments salon.

Diving

Based at the resort with its own fleet of boats, Diving The Crab is a world-renowned PADI and SSI center.

Daily one or two tank dive excursions go to a selection of dive sites both to the north and south of the resort. Shallow coral reefs dropping to depths of 30 meters abound with marine life and the added highlight of frequent Whale shark sightings from November to February make this a diver’s paradise.

The 5m-deep pool, the deepest at the Kenyan Coast, is ideal for diving courses.
