Originally built in 1891 the recently converted Windmill is the perfect contemporary country hideaway. With stunning panoramic views across the rolling Suffolk countryside, you can enjoy the uninterrupted view of the Suffolk sunset from the comfy warmth of the ‘POD’ top floor living space. Or in the small hours, relax and delight in the amazing and far reaching night sky views from the 4th floor balcony.

Drinking & Dining

Enter The Windmill Suffolk via your own personal keypad entry code into the ground floor lobby space with glass doors leading to the kitchen diner with its generous built-in seating area and stylish oval dining table.

Pull the cork on a good bottle of wine, mix up a mojito and cook up a storm whilst looking out through the bi-fold doors onto your own private garden and terrace with far reaching views.

The kitchen flaunts all utilities including fridge/freezer, dishwasher, electric oven and hob, microwave and washer/dryer.  A Nespresso coffee machine is provided with a wide selection of complimentary refills so you can enjoy your favourite caffeine treat.

Stored for your convenience you will find salt, pepper, olive oil and balsamic vinegar, sugar, tea, coffee, milk, cling film and foil, toilet rolls, soap, bin liners, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets and clothes detergent.

Ocado (Waitrose), Sainsbury’s and Tesco deliver directly to The Windmill Suffolk and your order can be arranged for delivery for your arrival.

You will also find a separate WC on the ground floor.

Then climb the sweeping curved stairs that lead you to the first floor bedroom.

Sleeping accommodation

The adult only accommodation at The Windmill Suffolk sleeps 4 people and consists of 2 luxurious and cosy bedrooms on the first and third floors.

Bespoke handmade super king size beds furnished with sumptuous linens, cushions and throws promise a blissful uninterrupted night’s sleep, making it all the more tempting to enjoy an early night or a lazy morning in bed!

The first floor bedroom can be arranged to your request as either King-size or 2 single beds.

Luxury Bathing.  The perfect place to pamper and preen, the luxurious marble and mosaic shell bathroom in The Windmill features both a freestanding oversized oval bath and a walk-in monsoon rain shower with vistas across the Suffolk countryside.

Both the shower and bath tub are big enough for two so no need to set the alarm to get there first!

This sumptuous sanctuary comes complete with fluffy dressing gowns, super soft towels and a complimentary selection of Elemis toiletries.

Living accommodation

At the highest point of The Windmill Suffolk you will find the unique ‘POD’ living space.

Relax on one of the 2 inviting and sumptuously soft oversized handmade velvet sofas, piled high with plump cushions, fluffy blankets and cosy throws.

Take time to appreciate the panoramic views or snuggle down to watch the 47” curved internet enabled TV with Sky +HD.

Enjoy watching the Bury St Edmunds landscape using the telescope from the swivel chair on the raised viewing deck and treat yourself to a chilled bottle of wine or some fresh fruit juice from the built-in wine fridge.

Head out onto the external balcony to take-in the picturesque vistas of the surrounding Suffolk countryside. With a bistro dining table and chairs you can enjoy a relaxed alfresco lunch or a warming hot drink on your own private veranda.

Entertainment and Mod Cons

HD 47” curved internet enabled curved television.

Sky HD TV available in both the kitchen and living areas.

Wi-Fi coverage is available on all floors.

Audio inputs and volume controllers are situated in the kitchen/dining area, both bedrooms and the top floor living space (The POD) to allow you to play your own media through the built-in ceiling speakers.

Hairdryers are supplied in both bedrooms.

A Nespresso coffee machine with a selection of complimentary refills are provided in the kitchen diner.

Dishwasher, washer/dryer, microwave and an electric oven and hob are all installed on the ground floor for your convenience.

This rural sanctuary has many a wildlife spotting opportunity so keep your eyes peeled for a variety of the best that nature has to offer. The flora and fauna of the wild meadows that surround The Windmill Suffolk hide the odd rabbit, pheasant, muntjac deer and an array of birds to spot!

Take your blanket and basket to head out for a spot of picnicking or stroll along the old railway line that runs behind The Windmill to take in the scenery of Suffolk.

While away the hours taking in the beautiful surroundings on your own private patio, fire up a barbeque and relax in the tranquillity of the gardens of The Windmill Suffolk. You will truly unwind in this hidden haven.

The Windmill Suffolk has ample private parking and secure private storage for bicycles.

 

In the Area

The Windmill Suffolk is 5 minutes drive from Historic Lavenham where you can try delicious cream teas and wander the round the amazing Tudor buildings.


Bury St Edmunds with a plethora of restaurants and bars, historic sites, The magnificent Abbey and its gardens along with fabulous shopping is less than 10 minutes away.
Cambridge for punting on the river Cam and visiting the amazing colleges is 45 minutes from The Windmill Suffolk and Newmarket for the horseracing is 20 minutes drive.

Getting around

There is a local bus service which runs right past The Windmill but you will ideally need a car to get to the best of what Suffolk and the surrounding countryside has to offer.

  • As the staircases are steep and winding, The Windmill may not be suitable for those with mobility issues.
