With centuries of tradition, this wonderful afternoon ritual owes its origins to  Anna, the 7th  Duchess  of Bedford.  A time to share, to celebrate and reconnect.

The ultimate private afternoon tea/luncheon for 2, features an extensive selection of traditional loose leaf teas, single origin coffees, plus delicious  herbal alternatives.

Enjoy tiered plates  brimming with finely cut and rolled cucumber and dill, watercress and salmon, and chicken waldorf sandwich selections, the tiniest hand made savoury pastries and delicacies, exquisite hot & cold savoury delights along with delicate French inspired pastries.

Melt in your mouth French petit fours, mille feuille,  signature fresh cream cakes,  and light fluffy scones  are served  with organic preserves.

Romantic country inspired Portmeirion Botanic Garden china and antique C18th and C19th hallmarked sterling silver pieces  and the finest Italian linen will be used for service.

The cost for the private afternoon tea/luncheon for 2 for tea in the majestic and beautiful Kings Chambers suite is $530.00 for 2 people.

A  lavish bunch of unique wildly romantic flowers from the extraordinary  Ivy Shed  can be included for an additional $175.00.

For additional people the cost will be calculated to suit numbers. 6 guests are the maximum number for any afternoon tea booking.

 

Tea will be served in the King’s Chamber in front of the open log fire (subject to weather conditions).

Tea / lunch afternoons will be 2 hours duration.
May be booked for lunch 1pm-3pm.

Romantic Dinners – indulgence and convenience-experience private in-room dining.

 

Renowned for fine imaginative cuisine, a 4 course multiple-choice menu, using the best of local fresh produce is served course by course, individually to suites at guest’s preferred  time.

The  ornate candlelit dining room is available by prior special request ($50.00 surcharge applicable).  All rooms/suites have formal antique tables and chairs for totally private dining.

Rare C18th/C19th European antique hallmarked armorial  sterling silver pieces feature in dinner place settings.  Be part of a continuous banquet that has lasted almost 300years.  Fine pure Irish linen napery  is used  for table settings: inc Sferra and antique linen.

​

Light  local cuisine with a bountiful selection of Organic and Bio-dynamic produce. No GM foods used.

​

The focus is on the freshest possible ingredients, many salad and vegetable varieties and fruits from the garden. Herbs are from the Manor’s organic kitchen garden.

Eggs from our free-range hens. South Australian seafood featured. Thorngrove promotes healthy eating and lifestyle choices.

STRICTLY LIMITED DINNER RESERVATIONS ACCEPTED-1 week notice required prior to arrival to ensure organic and bio-dynamic produce. Dinner is available only for arrivals prior to 4.30 to ensure preparation time.  Dinner selections are not pre-prepared prior to arrival.  Later arrivals have the option of a regional charcuterie platter.

REGIONAL TASTING PLATTER

A casual dining option is available for guests-A regional charcuterie tasting platter with local produce from the Locavore.
This must be ordered 2 days prior to arrival. A celebration of local produce within a 100mile radius.  $39.50 per person.  A light casual option for dinner.  Produce varies seasonally.

 

PERFECTLY POSH PICNICS

 

 in the garden at Thorngrove Manor-for couples only.
The novels of Jane Austen and Charles Dickens featured wonderful picnics. Once reserved for wealthy country people on estates, the Victorians held the most amazing and extravagant picnics. Mrs Beeton’s book of household management in 1861 featured picnic suggestions. The popularity continued with the Edwardians who loved the idea of an outdoor picnic with tables and chairs.  As an extension of our Ultimate Private Afternoon Tea, perfectly posh picnics  are designed for couples to celebrate momentous occasions in their lives. Exquisite handcrafted picnic fare  includes regional delights, including South Australian prawns, local smoked salmon and regional cheeses, handmade pate and delectable desserts and fresh fruit from local orchards and providores.
